NEW CAST REVEALED

His Dark Materials– is to return to TV screens with a new series based on The Subtle Knife – the second in Philip Pullman’s acclaimed trilogy of novels.

TERENCE STAMP, JADE ANOUKA and SIMONE KIRBY join DAFNE KEEN, RUTH WILSON, ANDREW SCOTT, AMIR WILSON and LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA in the series based between the parallel universes of Lyra’s world, the city of Cittàgazze and our own Oxford.

JADE ANOUKA is Ruta Skadi, a witch Queen, who joins forces with Serafina Pekkala against the Magisterium.

SIMONE KIRBY is Dr Mary Malone who heads up the Dark Matter Research Team at a college in Oxford university in our world. 

TERENCE STAMP joins the cast as Giacomo Paradisi, the bearer of the Subtle Knife who lives in the Torre de Angeli (Tower of the Angels) in Cittàgazze.

At the end of season one Lord Asriel opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend Roger, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown.

In season two we find Lyra in a strange and mysterious abandoned city – Cittàgazze – where she meets Will, the boy first seen in our world in season one – who is also running from a troubled past.

Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his missing father John Parry, but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them.

In Lyra’s world the Magisterium is waging a campaign of terror against the witches while Mrs. Coulter is searching for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary. 

Lee Scoresby is equally determined to find and protect Lyra with the help of the witches, while also trying to find out if the mysterious Stanislaus Grumman is still alive.

In our Oxford a particle physicist by the name of Dr Mary Malone is at the forefront of investigating Dark Matter when she meets a strange young girl who seems to have knowledge beyond her years.
